Il Duomo (The Cathedral)

This is the symbol of Milan, a marvelous example of Gothic architecture that reaches towards the sky, graceful as a runway model. The tallest spire (108.50 meters) is topped by the famous Madonnina, a golden statue that measures 4 meters in height, but seems like a mere point of light when seen from the square. No building in the city can be taller than this beautiful rendition of Mary. Take a minute to visit the interior and don’t forget to walk up to the marble terrace— you’ll be greeted by 180 statues and a breathtaking view of the city that extends all the way to the Alps.
